How to use ReelTranscript
Your quick guide to ReelTranscript.
Start with something short
Open the sample lesson to try the player first. The example uses a synthetic voice and includes a transcript.
- Import an audio file from your device.
- Choose By time and set the length of each section. Time-based splitting works without an API key. With transcription enabled, choose By sentence and keep 1, 2 or 3 sentences per section.
- Open your lesson in My audio. Select a section and press play.
- Switch to Repeat section to hear the same passage again. Use speed control for a slower listen.
- With a transcript, click a word to look it up and save it to Vocabulary.
When you want a transcript
Automatic transcription is optional. In Settings, choose Gemini or Deepgram and enter your own provider key. Your audio is sent to that provider for transcription and may incur charges on your provider account.
Speaker-based sections need a successful AI transcript. If transcription fails, import pauses with the reason. You can retry or explicitly continue with time-based sections. Time labels are not recognized speech.
Your key is stored in this browser and sent directly to the selected provider. Use a trusted personal device. Lookup of new words may contact dictionary and translation services; cached words can be read locally.
Your library lives here
Audio is saved in this browser's local database. Lesson details, saved words and preferences are also stored locally. Optional Google sign-in does not provide server backup or cross-device sync. Visit your account for sign-in and online service status.
Clearing your browser data removes your library. Private browsing, storage limits and browser cleanup can also remove local files. Keep your original audio files somewhere safe.
Local time splitting and playback do not upload your audio. Choosing AI transcription sends the file to your selected provider. The website also loads fonts and interface styles from external services.
If something doesn't play
- Try the bundled sample. If it plays, check that your own file is a format your browser supports.
- If a lesson has lost its audio, reimport the original file. A saved transcript alone cannot recreate it.
- If transcription fails, check your key, provider quota and connection. Retry or choose the time fallback shown on the import page.
- If you need help, prepare a feedback email. Do not include keys or private recordings.
- Offline use needs a previous online visit. Uncached fonts, word lookups and AI transcription need a connection.
